Musicas Migratorias (Migratory Musics) is a multidisciplinary project managed by Toni Polo since 2006. Committed to the diffusion, promotion and knowledge of the musical and cultural diversity as journalist, Dj, filmmaker, ethnomusicologist or events promoter, he has developed several projects in places of Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Mediterranean sea. Born in Valencia (Spain) in 1983, he lives nowadays between Lisbon and Paris, being based before in other multicultural and exiting cities as Buenos Aires, Bamako or Istanbul.

Showcased at Womex '13, Toni Polo (Dj Cucurucho) is co-founder of Groovalizacion Radio, a platform present in more that 20 countries focused on the dissemination of musical diversity. Cucurucho has mixed in clubs and festivals in France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Sweden, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Mali, Argentina or Turkey. Since 2007 he has shared the scene with artists as Salif Keita, Seu Jorge, Shantel, Bomba Estereo, Meridian Brothers, Chicha Libre, Balkan Beat Box, Systema Solar, La Yegros, Gypsies of Rajasthan, Deladap!, Uproot Andy or Hugo Mendez. Cucurucho Dj set is a funky and global grooves journey from vintage to digital full of afro, latin, tropical, balkan and oriental flavours... 100% Groovalizacion cocktail!!

Toni Polo is a researcher on Musical Anthropology specialized in Urban African Music at École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris. He has collaborated with prestigious institutions as Musée du Quai Branly during a series of conferences and events on Afro-Lusophone countries in 2014 and he has been awarded with a LABEX scholarship in 2013 at Université Paris X to develop a project between music, video and anthropology. You can download his essay on contemporary Angolan music here (french).
